Homer Community School Library Happenings
This page deviates a bit from the academia on other pages. The Homer Knights Library site, the Facebook site, and the Personal Page were all created by me, the former and the latter for UNK coursework. The Homer School site is under the direction of our district secretary, but there are lots of good things to find there about our wonderful district.
Below the web sites I've posted various projects and events happening in and around the library. As you can see, it's not your "shhhhhhh," library of old.

Check out the reading and sharing going on in our Knight Buddies Reading Program!
Sixth graders pair up with first graders and kindergarteners to share some reading and responding time in the library.
Third Annual First-Graders Worm Race Extravanza
Every spring the Homer Elementary first graders read Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin, author, and illustrator Harry Bliss. Next comes the sharing of various nonfiction worm texts. Students practice note-taking and recording worm facts on graphic organizers. The culminating activity is a hands-on worm study followed by Worm Races. It's always a good, loud time!
Celebrating Dr. Seuss with a Door-Decorating Contest, March 2012
Elementary classrooms had fun choosing a theme and decorating their doors in celebration of Read Across America Week. A Seussification indeed!
