School Librarian as Information Specialist
School librarians function as information specialists within their schools. They promote the use of traditional resources while at the same time modeling and providing access to new kinds of information. For some, this newer virtual, digital role is more prominent than for others. For a small school such as Homer, new methods of information delivery help level the playing field. Even with our smaller budget and available resources, the world is at our fingertips, literally.
Information specialists demonstrate knowledge of a variety of information sources and use of a variety of research strategies to support learning, creating, and communicating in this digital society. On this page I've included a couple of artifacts which show my role as information specialist.
